Callum McManaman I thought he was the difference in some games last season

Would of been happy to see him stay, but bit part player in the end probably on the higher end of the wage scale, possibly financial reasons to let him and Butterfield go.

All in all good business, would be great if we can get Bree and CCV back but heard they on around 35,000 a week no way we can compete with those wages.

I think McManaman stuffed up his chances of staying within the first two minutes of his rare start at Leeds.

Well eh was basically a winger deployed as a striker as we dont play with wingers. MAde a vital contribution to us at times, but doesnt fit the style of play. Goof luck to him. Especially as he left with a bit of honour. That will always raise your stock with Luton fans

I think Bree is on 20k a week and CCV 26k. Our ceiling is 6k and that's the amount we were paying them - their parent clubs paying the rest. If there is to be a rest in football as many predict, then it'll take a while for those huge contracts to expire. The players could of course take a huge wage cut straight away and play for us.

Other deals can be struck though. Cambridge got 1.3m for Trevor Benjamin. They used some of the money by offering Lionel Perez (the keeper) 200k up front if he signed for two years. I think they just then paid him their ceiling weekly wage on top.

When you say that you heard that they are on 35k, do you mean that you read it on here, Twitter or Facebook?

Even if it is true, they were on the same money this season and we got them so why couldn't it happen next season.

On here, and from friends who probably read it on noseybook and twitter.

Wages are unreal in the Championship this is where we really fall short, but I 100% agree with 2020 6,000 is plenty for a player.

If I was on 21k or 26k like these 2 I'd certainly not sign for a new job at 6k or less.

But if my contract was up soon and this place gave me first team football as someone like Bree has years left on his career, I would consider it, he could follow Justin and Stacey back to the Premiership, with that all important experience.

Wouldn't the prudent advice be to see out the fat contract and save up enough to keep you comfortable? Then become a free agent knowing you've proved yourself at Championship level so should get a decent wage at least at League 1 wages if not better?
Taking a wage cut in the current climate is a gamble.
