    Signings

Just heard Neil warnock say he needs 6 new signing...

Realistically how many do u think we will want. NJ is quoted as saying he needs 22. Depends who moves, I think only rea, pelly and possibly cornick or collo may move on that are required ideally

The defence needs alot of work IMO but alot depends on the budget. A new first choice centre back is a must especially if we can't get CCV back. Personally think we need two more overall. Definitely a right back, would be good if we could get Bree back. Potts has done a solid job since the restart but if NJ wants to play in a similar style to his first spell then he'll need to replace him to allow us to get forward more but I don't think it's an area we need improving most in.
Certainly a striker to push Collins for his place and add competition. The midfield lacks technical ability overall IMO especially in keeping possession. If O'Kane is some way off still a good technical midfielder would be great. But as mentioned I don't know what the budget is and with contracts not all these may be possible.
Would try move on - Crainie, Tunnicliffe, Hylton (love the guy!), maybe Butterfield too if NJ doesn't rate him, personally think he's a very good player.

A decent goalie would be a good start.

I wonder if Eunan O Kane is earmarked for a place this season?

Would love to see him fit and somewhere near his previous form.

We have a decent squad. If we can keep that together then we don't need quantity of signings, just quality - as proven with CCV in the second half of the season.

2 or 3 quality signings (preferably CCV and Bree both on loan again, plus maybe 1 attacking player) and maybe a couple of "for the future" signings like Kioso if we can find some bargains out there (preferably including someone who can cover for Rea in that vital holding midfield role). But I don't expect us to go and spend a lot of money, given that our income over the course of the season is going to be an unknown.

Not sure we could afford ccv, his wages will be loads and he will be free agent next year, I wonder if Luton is where he want to be, he would realistically end up at a higher regarded club that can spend a few quid on him.

Brea agree, he is improved. Hope he loans back. NJ seems to rate him.

I think we have a pool of attacking players that aren't necessarily all required ?!?

Let's hope everyone continues the towards trajectory

CCV wouldn't be free at the end of his contract as still be under 24. Spurs probably value him about 4 million .

But wonder since they dont need the money if they could be tempted by a Stacey type deal (low fee but high sell on)

if not , loan him for the season and watch him get recalled and sold by spurs in jan after a decent first part of the season

Well, we managed to afford him on loan before, so hopefully we could do so again. I don't think we could afford to sign him permanently though, I agree on that.

If we get CCV back on loan we will have done some brilliant business there. Fingers crossed.

we need to resign Glen Rea and give him the captaincey.

That was partly what I meant by keeping the current squad together. Obviously if he doesn't sign a new deal, then we need to find a replacement AND cover for the replacement. We have a lot of midfielders who could do a job in that role if we were desperate, but really they all want to play further forward than that.

For me , our key player. Like McCormack before and that brilliant lad whose name escapes me when we were in Non League (he played on massively injured in one game).

Ah, okay. I wondered whether your injury reference was to the game where Smith came on as sub at the end of the season despite still being in recovery from his broken leg.

I agree, he was good but dogged by injury during his time with us alas and always seemed to carry a few extra pounds. I think the game you're referring to might be v York when McNulty got sent off?

Loved both of them. Remember JS scoring an absolute belter of a goal at Tamworth. We won 2-4 (maybe?!)
