    EFL statement

Posted by Another Suffolk Hatter on 21/5/2020, 16:39:19

I know that there has already been discussion below about the likely outcome of a vote to curtail the championship season but what the EFL statement lacks is a timetable - either for the rule change to make curtailment possible, and then the actual vote of clubs whether to curtail or not.

For what it's worth, for us, the more time available the better. As each day passes and daily deaths/infections reduce then it is entirely possible that by the end of May - still 10 days away - we will see a much greater possibility that the lockdown, and particularly social distancing rules will be eased.

If that happens then the chances of matches being played in June/July greatly increase, but that won't help if the votes are carried out too quickly.

I haven't seen any suggestion that social distancing guidelines are going to be relaxed. Quite the opposite.

If social distancing guidelines aren't relaxed soon we won't have an economy or a society - never mind a football league.

Are you really that naiive? Until there is an effective treatment or vaccine we will have to change how we live unless we want it to take off again and kill loads of people. It only takes one case without social distancing and other measures for it to teproduce with an R of 3. That's what led us to where we were !!
It's because we can control it with specific measures we can get back to a more 'normal' life but it will not be the same until we have the treatment or vaccine.
