    Going to work

Posted by Two metre Peter on 24/3/2020, 16:52:14

Dominic Rabb just said you can go to work if it is not possible to work from home. Government briefing at 16.45.

It's ####ing ridiculous. My 18 year old son is confined to the house and can't see any of his mates, and meanwhile hordes of people are carrying on going to work at totally non-essential jobs.

        I agree.

Absolutely ####ing bonkers and I now think my boss is a complete ####.

As Journeymen said earlier it is almost criminal negligence.

It wasnt at all. It was confusing whether it was key you went to work or only go to work if you are a key worker . We`ve been in today - so that clarifies it

So its5not really a lockdown at all.

Any company who can't be arsed to set up to work from home can carry on as normal.

More packed tubes in London tomorrow.

There are jobs that can't be done from home.

                    I know.

But there's also plenty of companies that can't be arsed to get in the right IT infrastructure.

And if construction sites are staying open that will also fill the tube each day.

It's either a lockdown apart from for key workers or not.

Self employed at this moment in time are going to go to work.
If the government provides money which is more than the means tested universal credit and statutory suck pay then what do you think is going to happen.
He said if you cant work from home then you can go to work.
There is 5 million self employed there needs to be a financial package that helps all of these people if he wants everyone to stay at home.
To be fair I think he is doing a decent job but he hasnt realised that the country is full of ####ing idiots who think this is a holiday and they can do what they want.
Financial package that is reasonable and then lock the country down.

                        statutory suck pay

I am self-employed. I left the house this morning, got in the car, drove to work, went into the office, locked the door and haven't been out. In an hour or so, I will go back out of the office, get in my car, drive home, get out of the car and go back into the house.

Alternatively, I could have stayed at home with my wife who has a number of health issues.

Which is the bigger risk to myself or anyone else?

I think that the package that you mentioned will probably be announced tomorrow.

I hope this happens and hope that you dont have to jump through hoops to get it.Universal Credit is means tested and is a joke if your partner is working which means you get naff all.

I went to a job today to finish off painting it.
Got another one to look at. Do I stop, do I carry on. Well I wont carry on cos I cant buy the paint so now the government are going to have to step in
Season tickets for LTFC will be on hold.

What about gardeners? Vulnerable, old folk sitting in isolation is bad enough for them but to have to sit and watch the lawn and weeds grow will be extra hard. Stay indoors, gardener stays outdoors. Gardener keeps earning.
