Posted by Super fit on 24/3/2020, 8:11:35

I don't know what to do, I am self employed painter andc decorator and I am doing a small painting job on a couples living room and only need today to finish, all my gear is there, if I don't go they will have their living room half done, if I do go a neighbour of their's may report meor Police could stop me, only want to finish that and then I won't do another job till lock down is lifted, what should I do?

finish it, observe SD to the letter, if you cant, dont finish, get your stuff and hunker down, would be my call. I was about to start a job, booked it in before Boris announcement but sacked it off this morning as i would have to get paint from the merchants. no idea if the merchants would be open as Travis has closed now i think

Is very awkward. As a chimney sweep we need access to people's houses in order to work. We are confirming with all customers that they are happy for us to enter but to please stay in another room while work is carried out. In order to maintain social distance. It's a difficult time but a calm head and common sense will go a long way.

The message says you can go to work if itís something you canít do from home, as long as social distancing is observed.

I suppose really, itís a type of risk assessment.

Government's advice from the BBC just now was to go to work only if it can't be done from home.

They seem to have backtracked, or misinterpreted initially, on the 'keyworkers only' thing.

So technically I guess you could argue you could go but I understand why so many people are confused.

                  Rubbish!

The latest is - travel to or from work but only where this is absolutely necessary.

                    BBC and PM's twitter say:

'Travelling to and from work, but only where work absolutely cannot be done from home.'

                    Doesn't specify anything about necessity.

Martin Lewis seemed to have some good advice for self employed folk. Might be worth having a look at what he says.

Seems the govt definitely backtracked on their advice, key change overnight on some of their info from 'keyworkers only' to 'only go to work if you can't work from home.' Except TfL are now only putting on tubes for key workers so people are overcrowding on a reduced tube service, probably spreading the disease a bit more.

Whole thing seems a bit bungled.

                        Exactly it's not specific enough.

Finish the job but take necessary precautions.
