    FA are just unbeleivable

Posted by Ruddsy on 13/1/2020, 17:52:07

I have personally witnessed the destructive nature of gambling on a close family member and the devastating consequences it can have. I am f--k-- gobsmacked that the FA have struck a deal with a number of gambling sites that will offer live streaming of FA Cup matches when you sign up.

These hypocrites have sold there soul once more to gain a financial benefit and to hell with the consequences of those it affects. Our beautiful game has become a cash cow to the highest bidder.

At least this club has some morals unlike the vast majority of football

Didnít sell rights to gambling companies. The rights were sold to an agency which has sold them to gambling company. And said gambling company has said they would sell the rights back.

Then the FA should ensure that it has control over selling on by the 3rd parties that it sells such rights to.

And the deal was done in 2017, and nobody seemed to have been outraged at the time.. which was before the FA banned selling rights to gambling firms.

Gambling has had an impact on my family and has caused mayhem.
I believe 2020s stance is one that has to be applauded and is a brave one. The principles of this club are ones that are hopefully adopted elsewhere. If not then we stand alone as a beacon of light for others to look towards and to one day follow.
Once we move into the new ground we will be in a much more powerful position to reinforce those principles that will put us apart from everyone else.
              Where we go others follow.

Whilst it's shit that has happened to your family member, alcohol runs more lives then gambling. Nobody seems overly arsed about that though.

Actually, in minors, gambling addiction was predicted overtake alcohol and drug addictions in 2019. The thing about gambling is it's like mental illness, it can't be seen so isn't instantly recognisable or transparent. You can generally tell when someone has a drug or booze habit but it's a bit more difficult in gambling.

And in any case, LTFC refuses to accept sponsorship or advertising on gambling, alcohol and any legal drug related brand.

Thing is, I could say I lost 1k last year gambling (I didn't) and people would say that's awful, you have a big problem.

But if I said I spent 2k last year on beer, nobody would bat an eyelid.

Depends on your age. I know the club's principle stance is to defend the effect on minors.

But, as devil's advocate, I'm not sure I agree with you anyway. Year on year, less money is being spent on alcohol and more money is being spent on gambling. Most importantly, a higher proportion of the money spent in gambling is addicted expenditure. That's to say that the are more gamblers with addictions per £x spent than there are alcoholics on booze.

                          I would ban online gambling.

If you want to pur a beer on, go into a betting shop to do it.

Only thing I would say is that when you read stories of vast gambling losses, roulette machines are often involved. Which is basically what the gambling firms want to people to bet on, they might make a lot from everyone's losing one pound football accas each weekend combined, but most people aren't going to lose a fortune betting on football.

It's all relative. Both are addictions one more easily attainable than the other. F.a are immoral.

The government should ban all gambling advertising appearing on tv . Just as they did with smoking. Let's see if they are willing to do this. After all the bookies are looking to hook new young members into a lifetime of gambling. They are not really interested in the older people. They (we ) are already wasting our hard earned money at bet fred 365 ladbrokes parasites.
