A wonderful article which sums up my feelings entirely. I remonstrated with a couple of supporters yesterday who at the end ofthe game had sprinted down a few rows of Block B of the main stand just to yell at the manager as he walked off.
Their eyes were bulging and spittle flying from their mouths as they shouted "get out".
What exactly are they trying to achieve by that and don't they understand what the managers and players are up against?
Nobody wants us to be in this position but yelling your frustration at the manager and players isn't going to make them play better or try harder. It just adds pressure and makes mistakes more likely. Exactly like it did when we were getting beaten in the Conference.
I hope those who are frustrated get to see this article and gain some perspective.

Exactly - people need to appreciate where we've come from, and how quickly - 5 of the last 10 seasons have been spent in non league, 4 in div 2 and 1 in div 1. Even the supposed lesser teams in the division like Millwall and Wigan have spent the last 10yrs in the Prem or the Championship (apart from 2 in div 1 for Millwall). That means they're financially and structurally more able to compete at this level. They also haven't spent the most part of 5 years getting planning permission for two massive developments that will safeguard the future of the club. It's ####ing embarrassing all the pissing and moaning we're seeing after a run of bad results in a division that we all knew it was going to be almost impossible to stay in anyway.

Excellent summary . Was always going to be a tough job even for an experienced manager , let alone a rookie one. Jones is highly experienced and respected in the game and appeared to be a great appointment but the odds were heavily stacked against him from day one. From what I have seen of McManaman, Cranie, Brown and Galloway they look like decent players for this level. Unfortunately the reason we have them is because they are all injury prone.

                      Well written Dylan....

Agree with almost all of that... one exception being our transfer activity... and this may not be entirely down to GJ.... the wages we are paying Tunnicliff Mcmanaman and Bree.... as a club traditionally we have recruited young and raw players and taken the risk on them developing so why spend wages on championship players that nobody else wants... perhaps there was a good reason nobody else wanted them.

                          Bravo Dylan!

Wouldnt boo and will support the town but do question this seasons preperation.
Ok know financial constraints etc but.
We signed 9 players excluding lualua resigning.
3 started yesterday and 1 on the bench. We have 17 backroom staff.
Have we wasted the little amount of money we had to get a team ready to survive this season.
Last year we had a very small squad and lost 3 vital areas in full backs and central defending midfielder.
All 3 positions havent been adequately filled.
We now play an attacking 4 3 3 formation with a physically weak midfield and a defence with 2 players playing out of position. Not surprised of yesterdays result.
GJ needs to get smart and look to strengthen the defence. Play 4 across the back then 2 defending midfielder's. 3 in a central role and 1 forward.
Ok might be a bit boring but so is the football at the moment. But will stop letting goals in because mistakes can be protected by other players and we might catch teams on the break.
Playing like many of the oposition teams have against us over the last few years.

Mate, you can't have it both ways.

All season people have been moaning GJ hasn't given a chance to last seasons players. Now it's, he made signings who cant get in the team.

The fact is he bought championship experienced players into the squad, to bring experience. Of those I would say Izzy, Galloway and Macca would be starts if they weren't injured. So that makes up more than half the team his signings

It’s certainly a well written article, but the oft repeated “how dare you” tone is patronising.
Even Jones himself admitted in his press conference after the game that fans are entitled to boo.
We have lost more games than any other team at this stage of the season in Championship history.
It’s not so much John Still’s comment about how would we react when losing games in a higher division that is relevant, it’s how will we react when we’re losing game after game in League 1 next year as, in my view, this team is immeasurably worse than last season, and not just down to the loss of Justin and Stacey.
People are moaning now, I believe, not because they don’t understand all the points so well made in the article, more that they can see the team’s direction of travel.

Like I say, the direction the team is travelling.
Understand we can lose at home to Brum with lads on £20K a week but concern that this time next year we’ll be losing at home to Bristol Rovers with lads on £2k a week.

How many academy players have broke into the side in the last few years or knocking on the door at the moment.
I know that youth should be the future but can we compete getting youngsters against the big prem teams.
If we drop down to the 1st division we will be a less attractive club to join as a youngster.
Need to become an established championship team to be able to have a successfull youth setup.
Would we have been better attracting 4 good strong players paying more on wages than 9 squad players rejected from their previous teams.
ie would the wages spent on tunnicliff and butterfield allowed us to pay higher wages to attract a suitable CM player. Same with crannie and Daniels getting in a full back.
Did we need to spend 1.3m on a keeper or would Shea have done the job.
