Reflecting on the game on Sat...

    Posted by jj999 on 2/12/2019, 17:38:54

Regardless of the step up in quality of the opposition, last seasons team would
1 Never have caved in like that and
    2. Have given Brentford a very good game - may have lost but not 7-0 ffs

Als when you watch the highlights back again Izzy Brown is wandering around like a lost sheep in midfield. He might be good going forward but today thats just not enough...

So have I. Unless there is a massive gulf in class to start with (ie Germany v San Marino etc), no football team should be 5-0 down at half time with eleven men on the pitch. You can blame the manager for not changing it & you can blame the players for not sorting themselves out better to make sure the millions of gaps got filled.

8 of the starting 11 were 'last year's team',but don't let that cloud your judgement.

Pottsy took some flak, Bradley is a bit lucky he didn't take some as well.

For a number of reasons this team is low on confidence so not sure that is strictly fair. The team that limped over the line last season would have struggled against Brentford.

We will never know exactly how last seasonís team would have done against Brentford - Your opinion that they would have given them a very good game is just that. An opinion.

What we do know is that last seasonís team no longer contains 2 premier league full backs out of a back 4 which shipped 7 goals.

That on the other hand is a fact.

McGregor might have put some tackles in.

Put far more succinctly than I managed!

Plus it must be said, the other 2 in that back 4 were not immune to defensive cock-ups even last season, especially away from home (Burton, Charlton, Barnsley)

According to the Brentford board we are the worst side we have played in The Championship since being promoted in 2014.

They also moulded Andre Gray into the complete footballer.
Apparently Luton didn't contribute anything, Brentford plucked him out of non league and turned him into a superstar.
