    Capital and Regional the enemy

Posted by Desperate Dan on 7/11/2019, 19:50:55

So we now know the final hurdle is before us in the form of a pathetic attempt to try and get a Judge to grant a judicial review.
Lawrence Hutchings , the beleaguered CEO of Capital and Regional, has just signed his company's own death warrant in this town. If the name Capital and Regional was not toxic before it will be once people in Luton realise that the reason the scout hut down the road has closed, or the sheltered housing scheme one of their parents may be using cant have urgent maintenance carried out is due to the council with drawing funding because they are being forced to fight a legal process that doesn't need to be fought then it is incumbent on all of us to make sure that everyone who is unaware knows who is exactly to blame.
Lawrence Hutchings has consistently ignored to answer questions from those he is going to make suffer, the people of Luton. He has been invited to a public meeting numerous times, he has refused to speak to BBC 3 Counties Radio even when reporters have gone down to his London HQ, doesn't reply to the local media when they ask for an opinion from him. He refused to turn up to the planning committee meetings, not once but twice, to defend his position Is this a man who is brimming full of confidence in the full knowledge that he is right and he will be the architect of a bright new future for the town, our town!
Is Lawrence Hutchings a captain of industry, someone people look up to and admire, or is he in Luton someone who is despised and whom people want to see the back of along with his company.
If a judge decides yes you are right Mr Hutchings and we will launch a judicial review how is his relationship going to be with our local elected representatives let alone the citizens of this town.
For 3 years now we have had to put with his companys bollocks on what their "vision" is for the town. That "vision" looked remarkably similar to the plans the club has for Power Court minus a football stadium.
In this great "vision" how much money has been laid out in terms of investment for the ARNDALE! The figure was a laughable £7 million pounds! Even with this derisory and laughable amount where has it actually gone?
Lawrence Hutchings rambles on about Newlands Park threatening his dominant position in the town centre. Dominant is a word his company uses when describing their presence in town centres. It is therefore interesting that during all his filibustering about people not being able to send their kids to school because they wont be able to afford the fees due to a loss of their jobs as a consequence of Newlands Park being built, which was the biggest laugh we have had from him, has never uttered one word against a retail park that is booming and adding shops to it and that is Gipsey Lane! Newlands has not even been built yet but the clear and present danger for Hutchings is surly this retail park. One has to conclude there is something else that is occupying Hutchings thought processes and that is the Marlowes Park development at Hemel Hempstead. Of course he cant argue this as a point in front of a judge can he as you cant object on competition grounds.
If you are not interested in Newlands Park as a supporter of our football club then you should be. Newlands is the key to building and sustaining the new ground. Hutchings knows this and therefore he is the enemy of our football club and its very existence if he wins! Just dwell on that for a moment. We are undoubtedly at a cross roads here. One road is to a very bright future not only for our club but Luton in general. The other road is to a managed decline for club and town, this is how important the whole situation surrounding Capital and Regional is, they must not be allowed to carry on with this course of action, and there are those who will not allow it to happen!
    Be ready.

You mention The Marlowes DD, but I know from a FOI request, that C&R didnít object to Maylands Place retail/leisure development, which is literally a mile away from there in Hemel.

Back of fag packet etc etc....

there are many threads to this isn't there. Stevenage poked their nose in yet are developing their town centre. Who put them up to objecting our development. MK MPs poking their nose in, who put them up to that. The list goes on, remember the Harpur Centre in Bedford?
C&R always wanted this as a regional battle yet we as a town didn't stoop so low as to start lodging objections to Maylands, Marlowes or even Stevenage. Form is temporary class is permanent.

It is so obvious the Hemel set up is what C and R want to protect , Newlands will be a couple of junctions down the M1 , it has nothing to do with the Mall , and never has been .
