    It is really strange. If you compare with Reuell Walters, he's completely out of the picture, frozen out totally. But Mengi has a squad number, was named in the 25 man squad, was on the bench recently, has been pictured training with the first team. So while JW was clear that he was happy for Mengi to leave in the summer, he does still seem to be on the fringes in a way that Walters (and Holmes until he was released) isn't. And JW seemed to like him last season, he was a regular starter until he got injured in the run-in. Not like Milli Alli or Jerey Yates who Wilshere took an instant dislike to.

    But doesn't seem anywhere near first team consideration.

    These things happen, but it is a shame that someone who was plausibly a £5m+ asset not long ago seems to have been written off. Not sure we can afford that sort of extravagance in our current position.
