Water has never been free, unless you have a well in your garden.
It was run by local councils to whom householders paid water rates, and then Thatcher flogged it off to her mates and chums.
Unlike the other privatisations, you cannot pick and choose wwhich company you get your clean water from, or send your sewage to.
It was a massive con.
