    Statement from Beds Fire & Rescue
    8:25pm, Wednesday 12 August

    At 4.29pm on Wednesday 12 August, Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue service was called to reports of a commercial building fire at Futures House, The Moakes, Luton.
    In total, 8 fire engines and specialist vehicles attended the scene. At its height, approximately 32 firefighters and specialist fire officers were at the scene.
    Crews were faced with a fire, measuring 10m x 10m, in the extraction unit of a commercial business. Wearing breathing apparatus, crews used hose reels, hose reel jets, and an aerial platform to extinguish the fire. Smoke and fire damage has been caused to the building.
    The property had been safely evacuated on the arrival of crews and there were no casualties.
    We have now scaled back our attendance. Crews will reinspect during the night.
    A fire investigation will take place to determine the cause of the fire.
