    Hatters Heritage - On this day

    2 players have been born on this day. The first was Gary Heale who was born in 1958 and was to make a goalscoring debut in a memorable 7-1 home win against Charlton in September 1977. He then went on to play a further 10 games for the club, with 3 of those games being in the triology of matches played against Man City in the League Cup that season. In the third of those games he scored his only other 2 goals for the club, to put us 2-0 up, before the Town went on to lose 3-2 in extra time, to a 115th minute goal. That match also marked the debut of the Hatters League Cup winning goalscoring hero (some 10 and a half years later) Brian Stein.

    The other player was Carl Griffiths in 1981. He also made a goalscoring debut for the Hatters, in a 2-0 away win at Carlisle on the opening day of the 2001/02 season. In the next 10 games he was to score a further 6 goals, but he was injured at the end of September that season and did not play again until April of the following season. Unfortunately, he only play 3 more games for the Town after his injury, scoring his last goal in a 5-0 away win at Colchester.
