Tueart scored one penalty and then missed another one in extra time (actually, I think that Aleksic made a great save). Channon and Kidd scored the other goals.

Heale should have won the tie for us in the replay but missed a last minute sitter. Roger Kirkpatrick was the referee for that game but went off injured early in the game.

Heale put us two up in the third game.

The game was originally scheduled for the Tuesday but due to planned power cuts (different parts of the country had power turned off on different days) it was put back 24 hours. The programme shows the original Tuesday date on the cover.

Paul Futcher sustained a serious injury on his way back to Luton to travel up to Manchester. Had he known that the game had been put back a day, he may not have been making that journey. We can only guess what his career may have been like if that accident hadn't happened.

The game at Old Trafford saw a significant debut for the club. We signed two players from Edgware - Brian Stein and Martyn Sperrin. Stein started the game and was replaced by Sperrin late in normal time. Sperrin's next and only other appearance was five months later, also as a sub. I think that you can safely say that one of those signings from Edgware was more successful than the other.
