Found this article very interesting, if not unsurprising. What with sports psychology, diet and improved physical fitness regimes it shows that comparison, often made between players of different eras, cannot reasonably be made.
However, given Malcolm Macdonald’s sprint performance in the TV programme “Superstars”, in the 70’s I think our star player of that period could compete with the fastest players of today on that metric.
