Most unusual was back from Mexico in 2002. Landing at gatwick. Saw the tail fins through the window. Plane did a go around. HAppens alot but rare for me.

Ryanair flight back from dublin to Gatwick..got to the Welsh coast and turned back to dublin due to a warning light - and they spent an hour working out if they could fix it before switching planes. But got to overhear the staff bitching about how much they hated their purser on the hour wait.

Worse airport experience was Zante - 7 hour delay , tiny airport. They eventually bussed us to a nearby hotel for breakfast while they found a replacement plane.

2022 on jubilee weekend. Boarded a plane for Bodrum. Sat on it for 4 hours. Got dismbarked as they ran out of hours. Got offered a hotel at heathrow (we were at gatwick). Booked another hotel actually at gatwick (well crawely). Got there and told it was double booked along with 20 others. Got told we couldnt stay in the hotel. Security staff (moonlighting militray) said that if anyone tried to kick us out come to him and he woudl sort it. Also said if we couldnt get back to gatwick the next morning he woudl drive us himself. Also said he woudl try and get us into the barracks overnight (couldnt). Someone who went above and beyond. Better than the hotel who refused to refund initially and said it was a a "no show"
