46 years ago today, in 1980, we drew 2-2 away at Newcastle. In what would be his final game for the Hatters Bob Hatton scored both goals, which would give him a record of 31 goals from 90 appearances over the 2 seasons he was with the Town. During that period he also proved to be a great mentor to Brian Stein, in his formative years at the club.

3 players have been born today. The first was Fred Molyneux in 1873, then Jackie Whent in 1920 and lastly Kavan Cottar in 1999.

3 players have also made their debut on this day. The first was Alan Judge in the aforementioned match at Newcastle in 1980.

The next player was Scott Ward in 2001, who made his only appearance for the club when he came on as a substitute goalkeeper against Brentford (following the sending off of Mark Ovendale). His first action was to then save the subsequent penalty from Lloyd Owusu.

The last player was Jake Howells, who made his debut for the Hatters in 2008 and would then go on to make a total of 334 appearances for the Town, over an 8 year period.
