The stand out game for today occurred 12 years ago when we beat Wrexham 5-0 at home (with our first 4 goals all being scored in the first half) on our way to being Conference champions. Another game that would have been entertaining to watch took place 87 years ago, in 1939, when we beat Swansea Town 6-3 at home. However, I doubt there can be many fans, if any at all, who can recall or will have attended that game.
4 players have been born on this day with the first being Arthur Cox in 1874, this was followed by Bill Jennings in 1891, Craig Mackail-Smith in 1984 and finally Danny Hylton in 1989.
Only one player has made his debut on this day and that was Lars Hirschfeld in 2003, who played 4 further games for us in the next 3 weeks, whilst on loan from Spurs.
Our club Chairman from 1933-1954 (and also President from 1946) Charles Jeyes was born in 1882. At the same time as Charles Jeyes became Chairman Phillip Wright was elected as a director and then went on to become both Vice Chairman and President of the Bobbers Club. He was born in 1895.
