Let's be specific with regards to what the booing in the first minute was about. Andersen passed the ball to Saville who, facing our own goal, just passed it straight back to him.

I understand that the tactic is to be patient in possession, draw the other team on and then hit them on the break, but I can also see why people were annoyed after what we'd seen against Wigan and Cardiff.

I don't think the fans aren't booing the players. They are booing the style of football. I'd be surprised if the players don't realise that, especially as many of them are vastly experienced.

Wilshere's team selection was baffling. Why bring Saville back in? The midfield of Palmer, Clark and Richards had looked excellent in previous home games, so why change on the basis of it not working away from home? It slowed the game down to a halt over and over again.

We needed an aggressive, passionate performace after two limp away showings. If they'd have shown that they would have had the full support of the crowd.

Wilshere also has to take a large part of the blame because he's made very little effort to build a rapport with the fans. Not thanking the travelling support in his post match interview against Wigan was stupid. Even if he doesn't mean it, you have to try and bring everyone together.

All that said I'd prefer if people didn't boo. But I'd argue that the style of football they are being asked to play is far more damaging to their confidence than the booing.

Just a point on Naismith. I've seen a lot of people saying he's not a 'leader'. To be fair, he gave Izzy Jones an absolute rocket in the second half for not working hard enough, and he came over and gave Joe Johnson a 'well done' after a good clearance. He may not be playing that well, but I think he is trying to lead.
