93 years ago today we played a match that is somewhat notorious for the snowy conditions in which it was played. The photo which best shows this in the many photos of the match on the Hatters Heritage website is entitled “The crowd” and shows the blizzard in full cry. The game itself was a 5th Round FA Cup match at Halifax which we won 2-0, As a result of this triumph it was to lead to the club making its first appearance in the quarter finals of the FA Cup.
2 players have been born on this day, with the first being Simon Ainge in 1988. The other is our skipper Kal Naismith, who was born in 1992. Happy 34th birthday Kal, let’s hope you get the birthday present you would want tonight.
2 players have also made their debut for the club on 18th February. The first was Paul Cardenas in 2011 and the other was Andre Boucaud a year later.
Finally, Mike Felix (who was appointed the official announcer and club broadcaster in Sept 1973) was born in 1936. He was also the drummer in The Migil Five, who had a big hit in 1964 with Mockingbird Hill. For those who want to revive the memory it is available to listen to on the link to the Hatters Heritage website. Having done so the chorus will remain in your head for the rest of the day !!!
