40 years ago today was the first of the triology of matches against Arsenal in the 5th Round of the FA Cup. A 2-2 draw, with all the goals in the first half, was the least we deserved on the day and (as the match reports and photos show) Mick Harford enjoyed his battle with Martin Keown.
12 years ago a 7-0 win at home to Hereford gave a good indication to Luton fans that our time in the Football Conference was fast coming to an end.
2 players have been born on this day, Bill Draycott in 1869 (whose only appearance was a 2-1 away defeat at Wellingborough, a day before his 34th birthday) and Buster Collins in 1920 (who played 7 times for us in 1948).
4 players have made their debut for us on this day, although 3 of these were more than 113 years ago and the last was 96 years ago. The first was John Boutwood in 1899, then Sidney Goodge in 1902, followed by M Price in 1913 and finally Albert Baker in 1930.
To give an idea of the demographic and number of those who read my post (and who may,as a result, follow the Hatters Heritage website) I thought the poll below, and its results, may be of interest.
