- My Resignation from Hatters' Heritage

Many of you asked for clarity on my resignation from Hatters’ Heritage in yesterday’s “Newell To…” post. I have come to the conclusion that I have no choice otherwise it would have all been for nothing.
The issue is free speech/expression. I have the right to say what I want, within reason, as a private citizen/ordinary Luton fan especially on here bearing in mind the well known disclaimer at the top of this board.
My comments as a private citizen are mine, not Hatters’ Heritage. If I ever spoke for Hatters’ Heritage the wording would need to be cleared by the Chairman at the very least and in some cases the full Hatters’ Heritage committee. I would have announced on here who I was speaking for and adhered to the constitution and principles of HH.
Just to be clear, HH has no views on anything other than its objective - “the advancement of education to benefit the public by encouraging the preservation and appreciation of the heritage and history of Luton Town Football Club.”
Following some of my posts on here, an external influence was informed of my identity by a regular poster. Despite my posts being my own personal comments, I was not contacted directly. The external influence contacted the Hatters’ Heritage Chairman and things deteriorated from there. It was made abundantly clear that the major Hatters’ Heritage project would not proceed as long as I stayed.
So basically it was me or the major project designed for the fans & future generations. So, after long discussions, I felt I had no choice but to offer my resignation in order to enable Hatters’ Heritage to continue their work unhindered. Also, it enables me, a nobody, to speak freely, within reason.
So there are no winners, except free speech which is ironically what the external influence appears to have sought to control…..OG.
As I mentioned before, my departure means HH are seriously short of people that can do things so if anyone has spare time, research or writing talent or is keen on LTFC history and wants to learn, then please get in touch with the Chairman via the contact button on the website.
