Think that is the crux of the matter. Why didn’t they check officially with the EFL about Clarke before announcing their team ? Insofar as the official statement by Swindon Town is concerned they comment that “there was no intention to mislead, deceive, or gain any sporting or competitive advantage”. Notwithstanding whether or not that may be the case they nevertheless did achieve a sporting and competitive advantage by doing so, particularly in the case of Drinan who was directly involved in their winning goal.
