We're in a bad place, but I've said before, the players are not shit. The majoriity are proven at a higher level. I'm not buying the arguement that they don't care or aren't trying, either. IMO they're going through a monumental crisis of confidence. Anyone who's played football at any level will understand how that can affect a team, they're human and to turn around 2 years of losing generally isn't a quick fix.
Cuba seems to have a signings obsession, and no doubt if we'd had signed him and he'd looked as poor as our other signings have, he'd be talking about whichever other player had scored against us as someone to sign.
I think there have been errors in recruitment (a left back and creative midfielder), but no one knows how much say MB had one that. It's become gospel amognst many that the recruitment team have final say, only rely on data, and they and GS have been forcing players and a system on RE and MB. I don't think that's likely the case at all.
The way we recruited with NJ was a combination of him and the recruitment team. I can't see why that would have changed, especially after we gave RE a long term contract, why would you do that and not give him a significant say in signings. And if you look at the signings we made this summer, a large proportion of them clearly have Bloomfield's fingerprints on them (Many of them played for him before or came from people he's worked with). I'd guess the structure in recruitment hasn't changed, but simply the managers we've had don't have the same eye for a player that NJ had.
But I guess we'll see in the Jan window.
