You make some good points. No mention of injuries I see. Your first line is unecessary - I and others can think for ourselves and many I've spoken to have said it's not a one window fix.

You say a one window fix is a "play for time" and then say "it is most unlikely you can't offload all the contracted players you either don't want or those you want to sell because of their wages."

Having players on higher wages obviously has an effect on getting players in.

I got from the GS interview that recruitment is/was done separately with little or no input from the manager - GS mentioned the continental system. For instance - there was much talk that Izzy Jones was due to sign, RE was then sacked and when we didn't have a manager, Jones signed.

GS said he wants MB to be more involved in transfers like an old fashioned manager. So we presumably had MB giving an outline of the player he wants, recruitment buying one and telling MB. In the future MB will be more involved.
