Obviously, having the best car is an advantage but the drivers are so close in ability that it might only be a slight advantage. i.e. you could put the third, fourth of fifth best driver in the best car and the performance would be largely similar but you could put the best driver in the third, fourth or fifth best car and see the same. Particularly this season.

Plus, it's fucking interesting from an engineering point of view. No, you're probably not going to get DRS in your Honda Jazz but regenerative braking has been a feature of road cars for a few years. Like it or not hybrid/full electric powertains are going to be a thing and F1 is, for the most part, the proving ground.
