Manchester City are the latest Premier League club to introduce minimum attendance requirements for season ticket holders - a move that has led to a legal challenge from the Trade Union Blues fan group.

Trade Union Blues claim the new policy - which requires Manchester City fans to use their seat at least 16 out of 19 games - unlawfully penalises a range of fans.

Chris Neville, secretary at Trade Union Blues, said: “This policy doesn’t reward loyalty – it punishes people for being human. Illness, pregnancy, disability, caring responsibilities or working shifts should now cost you your season ticket."

The group has also raised concerns about new camera operated turnstiles at the Etihad, which they say could lay the groundwork for the introduction of facial recognition ticketing in future.
