Rob Edwards excelled in the Championship push because he allowed a well-regimented Jones squad to unwind and exercise some freedom and magic. He was the right man for that specific moment.
Jones was excellent at drilling the bare basics into the core of our squad, and developing the foundations of a culture which gave us international acclaim.
What do we currently need in this part of our journey?
Do we aim to be a billy big bollocks upper Championship club, with players with high aspirations?
Or do we aim to hold the fort, hoover up youth and lower league talent, and pretend we're in the Conference again, preparing for a Europa League push in 2030?
I personally think a Robbins type appointment would be a decent move at this point, but it'd need to be paired with serious expectation management and rebuilding a serious fortress mentality. It'd probably mean offloading anybody not up for the fight and giving him 3 years to build.
