- Re: McGuiness seems massively over priced to me
The recruitment has been brilliant from about 2013 up to and including the summer of 2023. It's fallen off a cliff since. The last 2 windows have been awful. No way of getting around that. It's a complete mystery how it could have gone so wrong so quickly. Could it be the money we now have is a curse and agents and players are playing very heard to get and wanting big money? And we're refusing to play that game?
I thought we'd be able to sign players this summer that weren't injury prone and then we sign Baptiste (who looks good to be fair, if healthy) and Walsh!
I was hopeful we might have established ourselves as a Norwich, WBA, Burnley, Sheff Utd type pf club - always competing to go back up. But we've turned into a Cardiff, Stoke, Huddersfield, Wigan, Brum and Blackpool
Since January it's all gone to shit. Weird transfer activity, a manager who seems determined to completely change us and, by doing that, has destroyed all that was good about us (unintentionally, of course) and a squad that used to be unified but we're now hearing all sorts of rumours that it now includes want-aways and maybe even one or two bad apples
With things continuing to look good off the pitch, we can not afford to get relegated. I think we'll be ok but this is all so shit
