- Re: Gary Sweet Appreciation Thread
Rather than being a conspiracy that everyone just wants to moan and couldn't actually give much of a fuck about the club (there are some of those for sure), I think for most it's actually a bit different.
Even under 2020 the new stadium has been dragging on for years (obviously there are reasons behind that) but before 2020 it has been going on for decades. We've submitted planning applications before. Yes this is but more credible and further along than other applications but I genuinely think most people have taken an 'ill believe it when I'm stood in it' attitude.
I think what some on this board (you included) have to realise is a majority of fans couldn't give a fuck about planning applications and just don't understand/get that side of it. They see results and end products. Plenty on here are Gary's mates, or have been involved in club politics before, but a lot of the wider fanbase just want to see their team play, and for them, where we are now we've been before.
Imo it needs structured and planned communication to get across to these fans that this is the real thing, not a racetrack or floating stadium, and that this is the application.
General condescension and whataboutery with the kits isn't going to help, imo. For these fans, they want to buy a kit each season, and to be completely honest the stadium and kits should be completely separate.
