Edwards has Villa connections, and we gave Villa an absolute bargain with Barkley for 6mil.

Surely we could've negotiated Chambers as part of this? Solid CB with serious PL experience who could've helped activate Mengi's strengths and been a centrepiece of defence. Combined with Nakamba when he's eventually back, it would've been some serious quality at the back.

Instead, he ended up at Cardiff on a free(!). Of course wages would've been pretty steep, but Barkley's obviously would've been, too.
