I know Pelly has his limitations as a ball playing midfielder, but he possesses athleticism and strength; we rarely get overrun in midfield when he plays. I suspect the first goal wouldn’t have happened if he was playing. Picking a player out of position for his first senior start is utter madness, when you have a decent champ midfielder on the bench.

If I’m being completely honest, and I recall we both shared this view in about February/march, I really can’t get on board with this man vs man ‘Robball’ approach. It’s a style completely alien to any success we’ve had over recent years, and leaves us significantly vulnerable and unbalanced. Even the weaker teams in the division will punish us with a simple long ball in behind, and deploying a low block.

I fear this season will be a real struggle, unless he tweaks things, urgently.
