I wouldn't support entirely scrapping them, but think they are too high personally.

We will be using the parachute payments to our advantage - the squad has been kept together with the exception of Barkley (inevitable) and Osho and who we chose to release. Baptiste and Walters are probably on more than we would have previously paid in the Championship.

Then there's the existing losses to cover before considering the higher wages. The remainder will be a balance between the short term squad strength and longer term legacy - opinions will differ on how much weight should be given to one or the other, and how likely spending more on the former will benefit the latter.
