Now originally parachute payments were designed to soften the blow of relegation. To stop clubs getting into financial trouble when their premier league wage bill was on championship income.

Now a lot of our squad got given new contracts last season. This presumably included a wage rise. It may have had a relegation clause - but the fact that we have kept the majority of the squad and they arent screaming to leave suggests maybe that wasnt the case. Yes we have a wage structure but i`m pretty sure we are paying a fair more than 6k a week now.

We also have financial fair play to consider. Now I sure we are well within that, and we do have money to spare, but that doesnt mean we have to spend 20 million on players.

1)Is a player available
2)Does he want to play for us or be a danny spiller type?
3)Given clubs think we have money, is the price they put on the player the same as our valuation of them? Or would we be paying over the odds?

Add in that clubs are doing their transfer business later this year - knock on of the euros..there may be clubs holding onto players until they secure replacements themselves. All factors that have probably come into it.
