As with practically all Kubrick films, the music and visuals of 2001 were stunning. (If you haven't seen it, you should catch up on Barry Lyndon*,
one of the most beautiful films ever made.)
*The brilliant Leonard Rossiter also has a stand-out appearance in Barry Lyndon.
I was strongly affected by the rogue computer Hal in 2001 (a piss-take on IBM, shifting the letters one back down the alphabet). Welcome to
a world controlled by computers!
And then there's my all-time favourite, again from Kubrick, Dr Strangelove, with three masterly performances from the hilarious Peter Sellars.
