How long can the same 11 endure physical and mental tests thrown at them every week. Depleted squad, players playing with injuries and frustration creeping in - I’d say that’s natural.
They did so well yesterday for long periods and paid for two defensive issues.
1. Burke has to win his battle on the first goal or foul. He’s too nice and needs a nasty streak. 2 Hashi just has to follow his man or block him, he does neither. No one closed down the short corner or pressed the second ball.
The second goal so quick after the restart was a body blow.
Body language changed when Eli came on and he looked sharp. We finished the stronger. Good signs for the Everton game hopefully.
