In 1935 Kenilworth Road staged two 'illegal' women's matches (The FA banned women's football between 1921 and 1971)
In 1969, during the ban, a Luton bus driver called Harry Batt founded Chiltern Valley Ladies FC, who played at Crawley Green, and then took them as the de-facto England team to the unofficial Women's World Cup in Mexico in 1971.
For this he was banned for life by the FA, despite women's football being 'legalised' soon afterwards.
