I don't think they are in a financial mess. The current owner was hoping to sell his majority holding to the company that owns the 49ers.

Obviously, the value of his shareholding has dropped hugely since relegation. I suspect he will throw a lot of money at getting back to the Prem and flogging next season.

Makes sense he will spend a fortune on a new manager. Edwards has far more sense though, to join a club that will have new owners next season and would probably get the boot if they are not top two by end Sept.
