    The ref signalled for a free kick to Cov and booked Clarke immediately, although his signal for the free kick was in the direction of the penalty spot hence some thinking it was a penalty.

    My guess is that VAR reviewed and decided there wasn't enough evidence to say the ref made a clear and obvious error so didn't overturn it. Wrong IMO as the GK clearly caught him and at least they should have given the ref the opportunity to review on the monitor.

    I would also guess that if he had given the penalty they would have said there wasn't a clear and obvious error either and the decision would have stood.
