(although the pro gun lot who seem somewhat rabid will tell you that you cant blame the gun, and that they are underpowered sporting rifles not assault rifles) .

Its an issue that wont go away as many Americans will prefer to see their kids shot then consider gun control (way too late for that anyway). they also bizarrely think guns stop crime - and then deflect and say "well what about UK knife crime" (US murder rate per capita is 4 x higher than here)

World cup is actually across America, Mexico and Canada. Canada by far the safest of the 3. On a safety aspect - not sure Brazil in 2014, or South America in 2010 or Russia in 2018 could have been considered overly safe

Less moral outrage as
1)The 3 countries do have the infrastructure -and in the case of Mexico especially a footballing tradition

2)It wasn't quite as blatantly bought as qatar

3)It doesn't have to be moved to winter

4)there has been no suggestion of migrant workers being imported and discarded (well anymore than there are there already - but the stadia wont need to be built and then dismantled

5)Their human rights record isnt quite as questionable (notwithstanding they like the right to be shot)
