I haven't come across that reply from my surgery.
I must be lucky but haven't had any trouble seeing or talking to a doctor quickly on the day.
I ring at 8am a doctor rings back later that morning and more likely than not says come and see me later that day. Not sure if "older" people like myself get priority or whether my surgery is well run but I've no problems in that respect.
