On the basis that Southampton courted Jones, he really didn't have much choice. His ambition, understandable desire to put Stoke right, and let's be honest dictated that he would have to accept. The alternative would have been for him to be branded as lacking courage.

I don't have any problem with that. The issue is the extent to which the courting was really one directional.

Actually I don't really have that much of a problem if Jones was setting himself up for a move. He always said he wanted to manage Barcelona. Ridiculous obviously, but any more than saying - my dream is to manage Luton for the rest of my days.

And who wouldn't be calling for his head if we were struggling at the foot of the table this season.
