Don’t recall there being any segregation at Newcastle. At Bolton there was no segregation either, in fact most of the Luton supporters went in the Bolton End. For some reason a lot of supporters got on at Bedford and they were all dressed in Clockwork Orange gear (some said they were Arsenal supporters who had missed their train to Carlisle). Not surprisingly it meant that there was quite a lot of fighting, particularly after a lot of Man Utd supporters turned up, when their game was postponed. Luckily me and my mates stood at the front of the stand so avoided it all. Sunderland was segregated but that did not stop a load of their supporters come in to our section shortly after the gates were open. However, most of our “lads” left as soon as they had been, so when they arrived there was a big gap and no one for them to fight with. All the supporters that day had to go by coach as there was a rail strike at the time.
