Retained players:

Burke, Osho, Lockyer, Bradley (injured), Potts, Bell
Campbell, Clark, Pelly, Berry, Lansbury (injured), Onyedinma
Adebayo, Muskwe
Changes:
GK: Steer (Ingram) and Isted out, Horvath and Walton in
Def: Bree, Naismith and Kioso out, Drameh and Doughty in
Mid: Snodgrass out, Nakamba, Watson, Freeman (injured) in
Str: Jerome, Cornick, CMG and Hylton out, Morris, Woodrow and Taylor in
Don’t think it’s controversial to say we have better striker options now than this time last year. Yes would’ve been nice to get a good premier league loan but they’d be behind Adebayo and Morris and wouldn’t start majority of games so who will lend us a quality player on that basis? Would have preferred to keep Cornick as an option but if (big if) Fred stays fit could be OK here.
Midfield definitely stronger if the much needed DM from Villa is anything like as advertised.
We should have enough CBs especially if Bell can become a convincing option there. We miss Naismith’s passing but are trying to replace this with wide CBs who are more athletic and more willing to run forward and overlap. I would have liked a new CB but it’s not a disaster.
Goalkeeper we are stronger than we finished last season that’s for certain!
So, don’t just judge on one window, we are better than a year ago and have a great chance of play offs.
Incidentally on 1st Feb last year we’d played exactly the same number of games, had 3 points less and were 9th after a 1-0 win against a Welsh side. We’d scored 3 more goals but conceded 3 more. We got 10 wins, 3 draws and 5 defeats over the rest of the season to make the play offs with 75 points. 538 website reckons 72 will be enough this year. Either way we need 27-30 points probably in our last 18 games, last year we won 33 points in the last 18.
