I've had some contacts with local asylum seekers over the last 12 months and I can assure you that the group included plenty of women and children including babies. Young males are most likely to get work and survive the journey - if your Daily Mail fuelled guess is correct.

As for their clothing well many of them come over literally with nothing other than the clothes on their back. Many local charities have been able to support the asylum seekers through the generous donations of local people who care.

As for your assertion that they are "economic migrants" how do you know? Have you asked them all? And even if they were (although the ones I've had contact with certainly seem to be genuine asylum seekers) surely economic migration suits your Norman Tebbit right wing dogma of getting "on yer bike' to find decent employment?
