Agree with most of the above.

We should never forget, and (it seems) must still do whatever we can to avoid any danger of such things happening again.

Having already visited Dachau (about 35 years ago), I later took my kids to Buchenwald. Both quite chilling, and the sites of many thousands
of deaths - though the internees were not only Jews, but also political "undesirables", homosexuals, "sub-normals" and generally anyone
who didn't toe the line.
They were initially designated as "work camps", though the conditions were appalling, leading to deaths through starvation, exhaustion and illness
- or random executions and "experiments".

A couple of years ago, I also went to Auschwitz-Birkenau, which took the whole killing regime to a new level, with its gas chambers and terrible
conditions. I am pleased I went, though it is a pretty horrifying experience.

Tip for Godders: The film and book "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas" - although somewhat sanitised - gets the message across very well,
and in a way which is eminently suitable for children.
