Re: Best way to get car insurance for my 18 year old son
My first car cost me £650 to insure in 1997. I just checked what that would be equivalent to now using Bank of England's online inflation calculator and it equals £1192! So nothing much has changed it seems. My car (valued at £600) actually got stolen and because i had excess to pay i ended up a lot more out of pocket than if i hadn't had to pay to have it insured. I never could square it in my head that i ended up worse off by having insurance than i would have by not having it, but at least it helped me wise up to how the real world runs.
