Love Indian food.
The history of it all interests me, and of course the way the Indians made it all pallatable for the British. I wonder do they ever eat chicken tikka masala themselves

Think that some of the recipes were invented in this country.
But, I like the way they are cooked and always enjoy a good Indian curry.

First time in an Indian restaurant was the Bombay at the bottom of Steep Hill in Lincoln 1965 during RAF days and I was very sceptical of curry, but soon got the taste and have enjoyed them ever since.
And really like Thai curry also. Not as spicy but very tasty.
Good to hear that you can get a good curry, Ronnie, out on the Island. How did they find their wat there??

It must be 20 years since we've been able to get an Indian meal, John.

They started off small in Port Ellen and now have a restaurant in Bowmore.

We also have two Chinese takeaways – I only ever get chicken-fried rice.

Where you stationed at, RAF Scampton? I spent 6 weeks in Lincoln with my aunty during the summer of 1962, two of those weeks spud-picking. I saw a Vulcan bomber at Scampton.

Good guess Ronnie. Stationed there from 1965 until 1966. Plenty of trips home to Ford though. And yes, they had Avro Vulcan bombers. Not that I worked on aeroplanes in my career.
Good station to be posted to and happy times.

Did you ever go to Woodhall Spa? I went to an outdoor swimming pool there a few times.

I also went to Maplethorp on the coast.

No Brylcreem I am afraid Ronnie.
Only visit to Woodhall Spa was to do a job at the Petwood Lodge Hotel which had been the HQ for the Dam Busters when 617 Squadron was based at Woodhall Spa. That was after the Dams raid when they were based at Scampton.

Have been to Mablethorpe, or Mabo as it is known, locally. Bit lacking as a seaside town, but they do have a fun fair. And Butlins not far away.

i like vesta curry,east to cook when i lived in a bed sit in cardiff,,made my own curry when i moved in to his aunt house in cardiff
