Cenny Sports' Day 1959

My first sports day at the school as a 1st year, I ran the 100 yards and the 4 x 100 yards relay for 1st & 2nd years for my house, Raleigh.

The programme for the day was designed and produced in Mr Pritchard's art class. I wish I had kept my copy.

A highlight at the school was a football match between the teachers and the senior boys' team.

Was never very good,or really interested in sports,but was always posted to recording scores at cricket.
But did get into Hocky when we got a new sports teacher called Miss Busby she was thought to have been somehow related to Matt, did turn up, it was an after school activity, can’t think how long it lasted. Cheers

we didnt play hocky but played somthing called shinty the stick were cheaper,had a accident and when my brother ran up behind me he got hit with the stick

We were quite lucky in the girls Cenny because it was quite new. We had equipment for any sport you fancied and the gym was very modern.

I loved tennis, and most sports really.

Balliol Road baths once a week, then a swimming gala at the end of term.
