Moss Bank Cottage Field Lane
Posted by Ronnie on 3/4/2026, 11:55:18Board Owner This is the front elevation (west), facing towards the canal. The building is Grade II listed. It's located on the corner of Pauldings/Field Lanes. Fine example of a Flat/Jack arch (nearly straight) over the windows and door to redirect the downward load. William Polding farmed 50 acres throughout Litherland.

My dad lived in Field Lane as a child in the 1920s to 1930s, before they moved to Bark Lane. He and his brothers would lie awake at night listening to the barges going past. There is a turning point for barges near their house.
